There is a disconnect between what patients and physicians believe to be unfair treatment in the context of cancer care. One proposed way to help this problem is creating a health equity report card, which would track how institutions are dealing with disparities in oncology, providing transparency for stakeholders. Another suggestion is to add health equity experts to guideline panels and other advisory groups. In this video, Dr. Tiffany Avery, NantHealth’s Chief Medical Officer, looks at how clinical pathways can promote equity in oncology, which begins by recognizing the existence of bias in cancer care.
