Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board
Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong has served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of our Board of Directors since NantHealth’s founding in July 2010. A physician, surgeon and scientist, Dr. Soon-Shiong has pioneered novel therapies for both diabetes and cancer, published more than 100 scientific papers, and has received over 95 patents on groundbreaking advancements spanning a myriad of fields.
RONALD A. LOUKS
Chief Operating Officer
Ron Louks is Chief Operating Officer, responsible for NantHealth’s worldwide operations. Since his appointment in May 2017, the company has accelerated topline growth, streamlined operations and honed business focus on its software-as-a-service and molecular analysis solutions. The organization is also now well-positioned to leverage its data and analytics assets to drive value and efficiency for NantHealth customers. Louks has extensive experience driving innovation and scaling businesses—from globally launching new products to bringing mergers and acquisitions to fruition, and from efficiently managing operational processes to leading sales operations. Louks previously served as President of Devices & Emerging Solutions at BlackBerry Limited, Chief Strategy Officer at HTC Corporation, and Chief Technology Officer at Sony Ericsson.
Chief Financial Officer
Bob Petrou is NantHealth’s Chief Financial Officer. Petrou drives financial strategy for NantHealth and leads all financial functions including corporate finance, accounting, audit and investor/analyst relations. Since joining NantHealth in 2017, he has focused on maximizing long-term shareholder value by balancing investment, cost management, and ensuring the company is achieving financial performance. Previously, he spent 16 years with BlackBerry Limited—a telecommunications company—where he held various finance positions then ended as the Head of Finance, Mobility Solutions, and Handheld Devices and Emerging Solutions. Mr. Petrou holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance from the University of Guelph and is also a Chartered Professional Accountant and Certified Management Accountant.
Senior Vice President and General Counsel
Brandon Villery is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of NantHealth, Inc. and leads the company’s legal department. He is responsible for a broad range of legal areas within the company, including general corporate matters, licensing and commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property and litigation. Prior to joining NantHealth in 2017, Villery served as Associate General Counsel of its parent company, NantWorks, LLC, and as a Technology Transactions Group attorney for Morrison & Foerster LLP. Villery also founded a boutique technology law practice representing companies in a broad range of industries, including enterprise software, healthcare IT, informatics, financial services, semiconductors and outsourcing.
DR. TIFFANY AVERY
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Tiffany Avery is NantHealth’s Chief Medical Officer, responsible for providing clinical strategic direction. Dr. Avery joined NantHealth in 2019 as the Medical Director of Oncology and is a board-certified Medical Oncologist with a special interest in breast cancer and differences in cancer survival. Prior to her role at NantHealth, she served as an Assistant Professor of Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University and Wake Forest Baptist Health. After completing fellowship training at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, Dr. Avery focused and lectured on clinical research and the care of breast cancer patients. Dr. Avery has been an invited speaker on topics including cancer prevention, treatments, clinical trials, and survival disparities, producing peer-reviewed publications, conference abstracts, editorials, and serving as an investigator on several breast cancer clinical trials. Dr. Avery earned her BS and MPH in Epidemiology from Tulane University and MD from LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans, Louisiana. She is also board certified in Lifestyle Medicine and co-host of 3 Black Docs, a podcast aimed at addressing health and cancer disparities.
Chief Strategy Officer
Neil Carpenter is the Chief Strategy Officer at NantHealth. Neil drives the organization’s strategy – specifically targeting alignment of the NantHealth product portfolio, its go-to-market strategy, and the needs of the marketplace. A health care strategist, Neil has consulted as a system leader and senior advisor to health system leaders and boards. Neil served as the Chief Strategy Officer for LifeBridge Health, a $2+ integrated health care delivery system. At Lifebridge, he helped launch the first in the nation, offshore clinical command and patient outreach center, the first bioincubator inside a community hospital in the country, and new patient engagement technologies aimed at some of the most challenging socio-economically patient populations in the country. Prior to consulting, Neil focused on financial analysis and process improvement at GE and American Express. His work has been cited by publications such as The Wall Street Journal and BBC News and has published papers on health innovation in journals such as Digital Biomarkers and AMA Journal of Ethics. He has served on various state task forces related to Health System planning and taught at Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business. Neil earned a Master’s degree in business from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s in business from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Senior Vice President, Client Services
Keith Krebs is NantHealth’s Senior Vice President of Client Services, and leads the client implementations, project management office (PMO), client services engineering and client experience teams. Since stepping into the client services role in 2017, Krebs has been responsible for ensuring customer experience excellence throughout the organization. Under his leadership, NantHealth leads the industry in customer satisfaction, driven by a passion for delivering NantHealth solutions seamlessly to payers and providers, helping them better care for the patients they serve. Prior to this position, Krebs served as Vice President of Product Development, responsible for the development, testing, and release of all NantHealth products. Krebs previously served in several roles at Harris Corporation, including Director of Operations for Harris Healthcare, Harris Corporation. Krebs holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
Senior Vice President, Corporate Development
Mark Mozley is the Senior Vice President, Corporate Development for NantHealth. As part of the executive leadership team, he brings almost two decades of experience in building teams in a variety of functional areas to scale and execute on growth strategies. Since joining NantHealth, Mozley drove the transformation of the Sales team, a change that catalyzed the year on year performance seen in 2019. During this time, he also integrated the Marketing team, as part of the ongoing initiatives to optimize lead to cash. Previously Mozley served as Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for NantHealth, Global Director of Life Sciences Strategic Accounts for Clarivate Analytics, and as Regional Sales Manager and Strategic Account Manager for Thomson Reuters. Mozley holds a Masters of Chemistry from the University of Manchester.
Senior Vice President, Product Management and Development
Chris House is the Senior Vice President of Product Management and Development, responsible for ensuring NantHealth is developing and executing on the right product roadmap for the company’s long-term success. Under his leadership, NantHealth has strengthened its market-leading position for NantHealth’s collaboration and decision support platforms, and established the foundation for building out its data and analytics capabilities. Prior to joining NantHealth in 2017, House was part of the senior leadership team at BlackBerry, where he led software development and product management for BlackBerry’s secure Android platforms and application suite as Global Head of Software and Global Head of Technology and Research. Prior to this, House held technology program management positions at Cree and HTC, where he led the concept, prototyping, and development of new technology and product concepts. During his previous 10-year career at Ericsson and Sony Ericsson, House served in several engineering and leadership positions including development of automated test systems, sub-system engineering and engineering management. House holds a Bachelor Arts degree in engineering from North Carolina State University and an Master of Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
STEVE BENZ, PhD
Senior Vice President, Machine Learning and Research
Dr. Steve Benz is the Senior Vice President of Machine Learning and Research at NantHealth. Since his appointment in May 2020, Dr. Benz has been instrumental in leveraging our healthcare data to drive predictive insights for our customers and partners. Since 2014, he oversaw the genomics business unit at NantOmics, where he developed novel algorithms for oncology diagnostics, including Omics Core℠ and GPS Cancer. He also led the genomics team at ImmunityBio in 2019. Prior to NantOmics, he was the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Five3 Genomics. Dr. Benz obtained his PhD and MS in Biomolecular Engineering and Bioinformatics at the University of California, Santa Cruz. While at UC Santa Cruz, Steve co-developed the Cancer Genome Browser and the pathway analysis engine, Paradigm, which he and his colleagues at Five3 Genomics used to contribute to The Cancer Genome Atlas project.
Senior Vice President, Human Resources
Arlyn Small is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for NantHealth and leads the company’s overall human resources strategy. He is responsible for the acquisition, development and management of NantHealth’s most valuable resource: it’s employees. Small brings 25 plus years of experience in manufacturing, high tech, telecommunication and retail industries, and has spent his career helping people reach their goals and potential. Before joining NantHealth, he served as Vice President of Human Resources at Lassonde Industries, a global beverage manufacturing company, and served as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Contegix LLC, a high tech, managed service provider. He has also held senior level roles at Qlik Technologies, Amazon, Tyco Electronics, and Microsoft. Small holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in social science from Pittsburg State University and a Masters of Public Administration from Troy University. He is also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.
Senior Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing
Jerry Magin is NantHealth’s Senior Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing. Jerry leads the commercial go-to-market teams responsible for NantHealth’s brands and solutions into our various markets. In this role, Jerry partners with senior executives of health plans, health systems, and life science companies to drive the value in adopting emerging technologies for improving clinical, operational, and financial performance. A customer-centric problem solver, Jerry brings more than 25 years of industry experience to NantHealth and has a proven track record of building and scaling high-performing marketing, business development, sales, and operational teams in both start-up and high-growth environments. Prior to joining NantHealth, Jerry served as SVP, Commercial Growth at Base10 Genetics, where he led all commercial efforts for their genetically based technologies. Jerry also served as VP, Strategic Corporate Business Development at InformedDNA and as Principal at Medidata Solutions, a leader in EDC/CTMS/RTSM/ePRO/AI/ML, imaging, and payments solutions. Additionally, he co-founded a differentiated telemedicine solution that improved outcomes for patients and provider groups. Jerry holds degrees from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and continued his executive education from Northwestern University.
Vice President, User Experience
Charles Hunt is the Vice President of User Experience for NantHealth. As part of the executive leadership team, he brings more than 20 years of UX and product design experience to the company. Over the past three years at NantHealth, he has worked to elevate the role of User Experience in the company bringing greater focus to the design processes and research techniques needed to deliver impactful solutions that address both user and customer needs. Hunt’s industry experience spans influential companies in the mobile technology space, including Ericsson, Sony Ericsson, and HTC—creating and delivering holistic design experiences. In previous roles, he served as Principal Designer of BlackBerry Limited. Hunt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial design from the University of Cincinnati.
Vice President, Marketing
Kelly Neagu is Vice President of Marketing for NantHealth, responsible for developing the company’s brand, strategies, plans, programs and policies that achieve marketing targets. Before joining NantHealth, she was Senior Director of Marketing for Capsule Technologies (formerly Qualcomm Life). Neagu’s prior experience includes marketing leadership roles in orthopedic medical device and software solutions, and medical imaging. As a digital marketing agency executive, she launched consumer software and healthcare products. She has consulted with Fortune 1000 companies including Philips Medical Systems, Life Technologies and FujiFilm Medical Systems, and was integral in the market introduction of the HeartStart defibrillator and Clarisonic skin care brush. Neagu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Montana and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California.
President, CEO, Co-Founder, The OpenNMS Group, Inc.
David Hustace is President, CEO, and co-founder of The OpenNMS Group, Inc., an open source network monitoring company. OpenNMS was acquired by NantHealth in 2020. As CEO of The OpenNMS Group, David helps guide the company’s 21st-century vision of a world where network monitoring just happens, assisting companies to reimagine their approach to network monitoring challenges with a reliable open source platform that performs at scale on-premises or in the cloud. Mr. Hustace retired from the military after 22 years of service as an Artillery officer and later in the Signal Corps of the Army National Guard, where he managed data centers and developed integration software for secure communications and logistical systems. Professionally, his career path in information technology focused on the network and systems monitoring field, where he quickly became a well-known and respected consultant for not only designing and implementing large-scale monitoring solutions in several of the world’s largest enterprises and telecommunications companies but also for sharing his knowledge and expertise in technical forums.
